A creative buddy of mine gave me a sketchbook as a Christmas gift this year.
One Sketch A Day: a visual journal. It's not a regular sketchbook, it's marked from day one to day 366. So I guess it would actually be 366 days of sketching.
Anyway, I'm usually sketching every day... but not in one book. So, I was thrilled with this. I see this not only as a method to keep my sketching chops going but also as a great resource for painting ideas as well. Sharing sketches is something that I'm not really comfortable doing... I know some of these are going to be crap and a bit revealing on what's on my mind any given day. But that's why we sketch right? To work out solutions, compositions, problems.
Let's see where this goes...

Well, my friend, you are off to an excellent start with your 366 days. I see the confident hand of a man who sketches a lot. I look forward to seeing the other 362 days worth. :-) Are these done with markers? I can't quite make out their medium.

Don,
DeleteThanks so much! Ya know, it doesn't take as much effort as I thought it would in the beginning. I found these great markers/pens called Pitt Artist Pens by Faber-Castell. The great thing about these is that they're india ink pens. They bleed through the paper in this book though so I'm switching it up a little with pencil.
Always great to hear from you!!
Un excellent exercice!... Gros bisous
ReplyDeleteMerci Martine! We'll see what happens...
DeleteAlways wonderful to hear from you!!
I like this idea - by the end of the book you will have a kind of visual story of your yearlong journey as an artist. In some ways a lot more powerful than re-reading a year's worth of blog entries! Good luck. So far - looking good!
ReplyDeleteHey G, thank you for your encouraging words!! Would you believe i lost the damn book this evening..lol!! Found it though just in time to put down what was in my brain. I think you're right... It'll be much more interesting and powerful than re-reading a bunch of words. That's why your blog and Brian's blog appeals so much. Your images convey so much meaning... and speak for themselves.
