"Harbor Nights" and Happy July 4th!!

"Harbor Nights" 6x6in Oil on Panel

It's really hard to believe how quickly the month of June flew by! The month started off attending the Ocrafolk festival. Which was a lot of fun for everyone involved. As for the rest of the month, I've spend quality time in the studio cleaning, clearing and uncluttering! And of course creating new paintings.

This one came from a sketch from one of my older sketchbooks. I wanted to capture a really dark night scene... where the lights from across the harbor reflect off of the boat and the little house.

The original sketch from 2009
Happy Fourth of July!!

  3. D - what a gorgeous painting! It perfectly captures the feeling of being on the waterfront at night, the liquid darkness and the shimmer of the lights. So glad to have you back! Happy Fourth!

  5. Your first sentence should read, "I can't believe how fast the first half of 2011 has flown by!"... Yikes!

Nice job with Harbor Nights. I love the soft glow of light on the boat and house. My favorite part of the whole painting is that cool reflection from the boat's light.

    Happy Fourth, my friend!
