"The Conversation"

"The Conversation" 6x6in oil on panel
When I'm traveling, I tend to take a lot of reference photos. Too many. But I see potential paintings everywhere. And there's not always time to stop and sketch... which I'd rather do.

This painting captures a moment from coastal North Carolina along the banks of the Neuse River.

  1. D - this has such a wonderful Hopper feeling to it! I love the moment you've captured here, and how we are both invited into it and kept at a distance. Amazing work.

  3. The touches of light on the figures and chairs are masterful! I have enjoyed your work for years, although I don't comment often. I'm off to check out your Etsy shop!

  4. Your work is beautiful. I really love the colors you use, especially the violet in this tree. And your outdoor sketches from the previous post was just fabulous. :)
